105 Days To Go!

Our Story, the snow globe.

The snow globe has just sat on the top shelf doing nothing more than collecting dust. Nothing new, nothing exciting, just life.

Then one day it was knocked down and fell from that shelf. It was damaged. There was no putting it back onto of the top shelf. Things were never going to be the same.

So there it sat, all alone, slightly damaged, just going through the motions day to day. Wondering where it might land, if it would ever find another shelf. Or was I just going to sit around in this corner all alone.

Then one day something happened.

The snow globe heard the sound of heels clicking on the concrete, clip, clop clip, clop. What in the world is this girl doing? The clipping and the clopping continued. Turning to see what the noise was all about, there she was. A cute little gal, in her fuzzy little vest, seemingly lost, looking for a source of heat. Curious, he spoke four words that would forever change his life. “What are you doing“.

Just like that, it started, a harmless conversation with a stranger. As the conversation went on, it started winding that little spring in that little music box in the bottom of the snow globe. The spring got tighter and tighter. It was a feeling not felt in a long time . A feeling that had been missing for a long time. A feeling that somehow felt right with this mysterious girl.

Who is this girl? What does she want? Why me? All of these questions ran around the tiny little globe. It suddenly felt like a magic eight ball. Rolling, turning, questions rolling to the surface faster than it could ask them. Many of which were asked without thought because, you see, it felt so at ease and so relaxed, and so very comfortable. Perfect strangers that had only just met.

They talked of good times, of the bad times, the big things, the little things. As they sat talking, That tiny little spring getting tighter and tighter. What is this feeling that are winding up inside? Where had it been for all of this time? And why now?

This is the point where this beautiful girl picked up the snow globe, and started to examine it. It wasn’t a perfect snow globe. Little rough here needed a little touch up there maybe a couple of new pads on the bottom. But all in all, something she could work with.

First things first. Let’s clean this thing up. She flipped over the snow globe and gave it a little shake. Off to her favorite repair shop she took it. We picked out some new paint and polished it up. At this point the potential was starting to show through. The snow globe was not quite as rough as it was a little bit ago. The little spring, it was getting tighter every minute.

By now people are starting to notice this little girl packing around this peculiar little snow globe. Not realizing that she only just found this little snow globe. But everyone assumed that they had been together for a long time. Why you might ask, because they look like they fit together. It was at this point that they realized they hadn’t even asked each others names.

She looked at him with a mischievous grin. “ I just realized I don’t even know your name.“ She paused, and then said. “Hi, I’m Michelle.”

He leaned slightly in, tried his best to look cute, and replied “I’m Robert, how are you doing“

As he told her his name, he saw something change in the way she looked at him. Her eyes stared longer. Her smile seemed brighter. He suddenly noticed just how beautiful this girl was.

“Oh, now you’re going to flirt with me?“ She replied.

“Maybe…” he said.

That little spring inside, it instantly tightened up three more clicks just like that. The snow globe little music box started to play a new and happy tune.

At this point, it’s feeling like this is the greatest day ever. Nothing can possibly top this. She is amazing! The poor little snow globe, it was spinning like an 80s Breakdancer on a sheet of cardboard!

So off they went. She took him out to one of her favorite places. He was a stranger, in a strange new world, being let around by a beautiful girl. He was enjoying every minute of the ride. They sat, they talked some more and then she gave the globe a little nudge.

“Can you dance“?

“Maybe, a little, I used to…“

With every dance, I could feel that little spring clicking, one more notch every minute.

The magic eight ball was back, so many questions popping into his head, they were coming so fast he couldn’t even read them himself.

Who is this girl? Why in the world does she seem so familiar? Why is she into me? Is she into me? Am I into her? Silly question, obviously he was!

Then came the slow song. Every fool can dance to a slow song. They began to dance. Cordially at first, of course. He really likes this girl at this point, he wanted every excuse to touch her. He thought to himself, can we take this up a notch?

So he asked her, “Do you want to continue dancing cordially? Or would you prefer to dance eighth grade style?“

She looked up at him very confused. “What is eighth grade style?“

“Well”, he said, “That’s where I take your hands and place them around my neck.” He took her hands in my hands, and he ran them up around his neck. He then ran his hands down to her waist and said “and then I take my hands and I put them on your waist as we dance.” As he pulled her in close.

There it was again, that smile, those beautiful, gazing eyes. Without hesitation, she replied. “Oh really, I’d like that.“

As the song came to an end he bent his knees, wrapped both hands around her butt and lifted her up off of the floor with a burst of excitement. She smiled and looked deeply in my eyes, it was at this very moment, that little spring in the bottom of my snow globe clicked tight.

They returned to the table, she put her right hand close to him. As he went to rest his left elbow on the table he realized her hand was in the way. He gently placed his arm over on the other side of her hand. Then picked up her hand from the table, set it up on his arm and covered her hand with his. They sat like this for a moment. She then turned, looked at their hands, looked at his face, which, by the way was grinning ear to ear, looked back at our hands and said “did you do that on purpose?“

“Uh huh” he said with a smile.

She smiled back and said “you’re smooth!“

At this point that poor little spring is about to break. This girl just took that snow globe in her little hand and turned it upside down. As he watched her sing along to the song, the band was playing and he was mesmerized. The entire world around me disappeared . It was like they were both inside this snow globe. Nothing else existed. As she was singing the song, when the chorus would come up and she would sing “I wanna love somebody “she would turn and look at him. There it was upside down, spring wound to the max. He just knew he had to go forward. As she turned to look at him the third time through the chorus, he reached over and stopped her head from rotating. ran his hand down the side of her face and wrap his fingers around the back of her neck. As he pulled her in close he kissed her.

As they sat there his lips pressed against hers, that little spring inside released. She picked up the little snow globe turn it over and shook it vigorously and then slam it down on the table. It was like a snowstorm like no other. The whole world disappeared in a blizzard of magical snowflakes. It was just the two of them, alone inside the little snow globe, a moment forever trapped in time.

Feelings for this girl have increased every day. He has grown to love this girl very deeply, madly, truly endlessly. She has forever altered the snow globe. Shaking it to its core. She has polished it, repainted it. Held it tight, loved it and respected it. He can no longer imagine a life without her. It is sometimes hard remembering a life before her. He is sure as to the fact that she is his soulmate. Because if you find this snow globe, wind it up and let it play. You’ll hear that song, and if you look inside, you’ll see them sitting at the table, his hand on her face, his lips pressed against hers. A moment permanently, frozen in time, this is their snow globe.

This is the story of Robert and Michelle.

We met when the days were at their shortest, and we were at our lowest. Now the days are at their longest, and we are at our highest. It’s been a crazy journey. We’ve seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. If I could travel in time, I wouldn’t go back to change a thing. I would, however, go back and sit across the room and watch that moment when we met again and again. The beginning of a new chapter.

Some times you find the thing you need most when you least expect it, or when you aren’t even looking at all. In the last year we have been through major changes. We have only grown closer with every hurdle. We love each other the way we should, selflessly, endlessly and deeply. We support and respect one another in everything we do. There’s no such thing as perfect but there’s nothing closer to it than what we have.

Meeting later in life was how it was supposed to be. Both of us healing, working on ourselves, not sure what was in our futures. Then it was like the universe said, here you go, heal together, love each other and grow together. Later in life, Love hits different!

We love sharing our story with others. It is unique. We would love to share this important day with those we love. Please join us as we join our families and our friends as one.

This is where we start, Zero, Zero, Two…
